Induction heating by means of medium frequency technology

Easy, flexible and cost-efficient mounting of large bearings with novel induction heating using medium frequency technology.

Induction heating by means of medium frequen- cy technology permits easy, safe, fast and cost-efficient heating of large rolling bearings and other ring-shaped steel parts. To enable customers to benefit from the advantages offered by this innovative heating technology, the Schaeffler Group offers induction heating as a convenient service. This service is performed by experienced Schaeffler fitters - on bearings of all types and from all manufacturers - in all parts of the world and can be combined with other services such as mounting support.
The future-oriented induction heating method is particularly suitable for large parts and hard to access areas whose heating with conventional methods requires great organizational effort and considerable costs. Medium frequency induction heaters are fitted with flexible inductors that permit focused heat induction at workpieces.

Advantages:

  • Medium frequency induction heaters are fitted with flexible inductors that can be attached to workpieces as required
  • Uniform, controlled heating of large rolling bearings and other ring-shaped steel parts in hard to access areas
  • Shorter heating time and high productivity
  • Fast, energy efficient working
  • Very safe operation and high environmental compatibility (no oil)
  • Device is easy to transport and easy to attach to workpieces
  • Service can be performed in all parts of the world and combined with other Schaeffler services, e.g. on-site mounting support
  • Service is available for bearings of all types and from all manufacurers
  • Professional mounting extends bearings’ service lives

Application Examples:

  • Heating of bearing rings for mounting and dismounting
  • Heating of bearing housings (e.g. on pipelay vessels)
  • Heating of converter bearings in steelworks
  • Heating of bearing seats in machine carriers (e.g. in the wind industry)
  • Pre-heating of weld seams (in the pipelaying industry)
  • Loosening of bearing inner rings and other shrink fit connections
