Infrared Thermography

Thermography as a valuable diagnosis method in maintenance

Infrared thermography is an effective and economical diagnostic method for early damage detection. It can be used to contactless and reliably detect thermal variations on machine surfaces. Thus, necessary repairs can be scheduled on time and production losses and consequential damages can be avoided. In the monitoring of rotating machine elements, thermography is a useful supplement to vibration measurement. If infrared thermography reveals irregularities in the thermal behaviour, a subsequent vibration analysis provides information about the cause of damage.

The infrared measurements are done by certified F’IS employees. After the measurement, our customers receive a test report including recommendations for action.

Infrared thermography: Effective and economical

  • Variations in the thermal behaviour provide information on possible damages
  • Contactless diagnostic technology
  • Reliable fire protection because of regular measurements
  • Cost savings due to reduced energy consumption (e.g. at belt drives)

Infrared thermography: Applications in maintenance

  • Production machinery
  • Electrical switchgear
  • Motors
  • Pipework (valve closures and damage to insulation)
  • Industrial furnaces (damage to linings)
  • Bearings, tooth sets, gearboxes (in combination with vibration measurements)

Infrared thermography: Overview of F’IS services

  • Problem detection with the aid of special infrared cameras
  • Problem analysis (where necessary with the aid of other maintenance methods)
  • Measures to resolve the problem
  • Support in eliminating the problem by experienced fitters
  • Certified employees to ISO 18434, ISO 18436 and ASNT Guideline SNT-TC-1A
