Automatic diagnosis with the FAG Bearing Analyser III
A new, efficient and cost-effective vibration analysis system turns an ordinary notebook into a machine diagnosis system – Reliable, detailed, in-depth analysis and diagnosis right on the spot
Herzogenrath, Germany, July 16, 2003 – With the new FAG Bearing Analyser III, FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F’IS) has debuted a new and improved version of its proven, efficient and cost-effective vibration analysis system, in which key aspects have now been enhanced. This portable, multi-channel system can be used for early identification of all kinds of defects and damage in machinery, such as imbalances or alignment problems and resonance phenomena, as well as bearing and gearbox damage. In addition to conventional vibration analysis methods, the FAG Bearing Analyser III also utilizes the demodulation method to reliably identify such problems as bearing damage that produces noise and/or vibration (cracking, pitting, indentations, dirt, etc.). Its hardware and software components are capable of transforming any notebook into a reliable machine diagnosis system that enables dependable damage diagnosis and troubleshooting to be performed right on the spot. It’s merely a matter of installing the Bearing Analyser III software on the notebook and attaching the supplied hardware. Power is supplied directly via the notebook. The system even enables highly detailed examinations to be performed on complex machinery and systems like multi-stage gearboxes and roll stands, for example.
One of the outstanding components of the Bearing Analyser III software is its automatic bearing damage diagnosis system. After selecting the type of bearing from the system’s integrated bearing database and entering the shaft speed, the system then automatically analyzes the measured data. This simple method affords extremely reliable detection of both bearing-specific as well as machine-specific damage frequencies. In cases of doubt, the new, integrated e-service function can be used to automatically e-mail all of the data captured by the system to the vibration experts at the F’IS-Service Center in Herzogenrath.
In addition, the new Bearing Analyser III solution also offers a significantly improved user interface. Not only is the system now easier to operate, its data capture concept has also been evolved. Instead of only being able to capture a snapshot of the vibration data, it is now possible to continuously record this data over an extended period of time and store it on the notebook’s hard drive. This enables machine run-up or run-out data, for example, to be captured, analyzed and stored. Interesting measurement phases can be subsequently analyzed, or another new option can be used to visualize the entire process in the form of a waterfall diagram.
This ideal vibration monitoring system for virtually every need consists of a combination of the Bearing Analyser III and the Detector II handheld vibration measurement and data collection unit that debuted early this year. Just as in the case of measurements performed with the handheld unit, if a defect or anything that seems suspicious is identified the Bearing Analyser III software can be utilized to conduct a detailed, in-depth diagnosis and troubleshoot the problem right on the spot. The automatic data diagnosis system in the Bearing Analyser III makes it considerably simpler to diagnose the measurement data from the Detector II.
