Schaeffler Group Certified as Service Provider to Deutsche Bahn
HERZOGENRATH/SCHWEINFURT, April 19, 2010. When it comes to the reconditioning of its wheelset bearings, the German railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB) relies on the know-how of Schaeffler Group Industrial and its service subsidiary FAG Industrial Services (F’IS). A new DB certificate confirms the high quality and specialized technical competence for the reconditioning of rolling bearings at the Schweinfurt plant. To ensure that its high safety and quality requirements are met and to increase and maintain the standard of its transport operations, Deutsche Bahn subjects all subcontractors to a stringent auditing and certification procedure. Now FAG Industrial Services has been certified for the reconditioning of wheelset bearings by the DB Systemtechnik wheelsets department. ’We can meet our customers’ high safety requirements only if we consistently apply our quality management principles to our business and production processes and audit this regularly. That we are successful in doing so is also confirmed by this latest Deutsche Bahn certificate’, says Dr. Hans-Willi Keßler, member of the F’IS management board.
For the F’IS reconditioning service, which already meets the requirements of various railway standards, like for example AAR (Association of American Railroads standard), the Deutsche Bahn certificate is another success which benefits both companies:
Regular expert maintenance of rolling bearings increases their service lives and ensures a higher level of safety in the operation of rail vehicles. That is why F’IS offers operators for all types of rail vehicles an expert reconditioning service for their wheelset bearings.
The Industrial division of the Schaeffler Group supplies rolling bearing and plain bearing solutions as well as linear and plain bearing technology of the INA and FAG brands for about 60 different sectors of industry through its worldwide organization and application support service. Apart from the expert and cost-effective reconditioning of rolling bearings, the railway division develops and produces solutions for all bearing applications in rail vehicles in close cooperation with railway vehicle manufacturers and operators. The product portfolio includes wheelset bearings, complete with housings, as well as bearings and components for traction motors and gearboxes for car joints and tilting mechanisms, for doors and numerous other applications.
FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F’IS) (Herzogenrath/Aachen) offers services, service products and training that are independent of manufacturer for all aspects of maintenance. It helps it’s customers save on maintenance costs, optimize plant availability and avoid unforeseen machine downtime. F'IS is responsible for the worldwide service business of Schaeffler Group Industrial for the brands INA and FAG.
